Monday 9th of May is Europe Day because on that date in 1950 Robert Schuman proposed the creation of an organised Europe to promote peaceful relations. Today the flag, the anthem, the motto and the euro identify the European Union; and this date is the occasion for activities to bring the citizens together.
The first year bilingual students are preparing a little project "My Favourite Word in English" to work on words that can be related or connected with the European Union. These words can be:
country, union, freedom, life, euro, currency, flag, language, member, neighbour, travel, trip, integration, meet, cooperate, share, know, discover, help, culture, variety, diversity, nature, ecology, environment, geography, history, culture, past, present, future.
In groups of four, the students must prepare a presentation including: resons to choose it, definition, illustration, famous examples, different uses, sounds linked, performance, and other possibilities. This little project will help them to learn to work together, to look for information and to know our neighbours.
