Everybody knows that 14th February is a day when people give presents to whom they love. But what is this man's history? He was a priest who lived in Rome in the 3rd century. During Emperor Claudius' times it was prohibited to get married, because young soldiers didn't want to go to war, they wanted to be with
their families. Valentine continued marrying people, so he was sent to prison. Young boys and girls visited him, specially his guard's daughter. The day he died, 14th February 269, he wrote a note for this girl: "Love from your Valentine". This is the origin of the custom of sending love messages on Valentine's day.
